PMH arranges for partnership

MORGANTOWN - While Preston Memorial Hospital has announced its impending affiliation with Mon Health Systems, the approval process is still in the early stages.
“Mon Health Systems expects to submit the Certificate of Need application to the Health Care Authority near the end of September, ” said Lori Savitch, Monongalia General Hospital’s director of marketing.
“Mon Health Systems will be gathering the information, such as financial documents, as well as determination of need, to aid the Authority with its decision,” she said.
There will be very little change in the operation of either existing facility.
A Certificate of Need is required — filed with the West Virginia Health Care Authority — before expanding health care services.
The approval process length is determined by a number of factors, including any entity which feels it would be negatively affected by the affiliation.
“We do not see any reason to expect any problems,” Savitch said.
The Health Care Authority did not respond in time for this report.
“We are very excited to be adding Preston Memorial Hospital to our list of members,” Savitch said.
