Child Care
Following recent discussions with the WV DHHR, the WVHA would like to provide the following guidance relating to the creation of a child care center.
  • Current law exempts from licensure the creation and operation of a child care center for less than 30 days.
  • The DHHR has recommended that any hospital seeking to create a child care center to care for the children of its employees do so under this exemption.
  • It is highly recommended that all necessary precautions be taken to protect the health and welfare of the children and staff by implementing best practices to control the spread of COVID-19.
  • The DHHR indicated that this is a temporary solution and that they are working on a long term solution, to be developed by the expiration of this 30 day exemption.
Developments continue to unfold on this issue and WVHA will keep everyone informed of further guidance from the WV DHHR.
